Medellin quite literally took my breath away. Emerging from a mountain pass, you see the city nestled in a valley, jutting out of a lush tropical rainforest. To me, it looked like the Latin American version of Wakanda. I was blown away by how the city blended with and incorporated nature at every turn. Almost everyone in our group immediately started murmuring comments like “I could live here…”
While it has a storied reputation for being dangerous, the Medellin of today tells a different tale. Hardly anywhere did we see signs or references to the drugs and war that used to plague the area. Today, It is a sprawling growing city teeming with creative energy. You won’t want to miss its flow.
Here’s my best tips:
Food
El Poblado has got many of the city’s best restaurants, café, bars, and clubs in a small area. Most hotels are also located in this neighborhood. I walked to and from dinner every night.
